1. The official Launch of myBLOC.NET at the U.S. Social Forum!
BLOC (Building Leadership Organizing Communities) is a national network of young people working in communities of color to build alliances and fundamentally transform society. At the U.S. Social Forum in Atlanta, we are officially launching //myBLOC.net// - and taking movement building to the next level of technological advancement. //myBLOC.net// is an online space where we can get support, share knowledge, coordinate action and build our vision for another world.
This week, //myBLOC.net// will become a public site. Visit www.myBLOC.net and create a profile for yourself or your organization. You can login at a technology station at any one of our BLOC Launch Parties, where we’ll be making music, movement and art for social justice.
Like the Forum, BLOC is a space for organizers and activist to come together to get support, make plans, and build new relationships and new vehicles for our movement. Through MyBLOC you can stay connected to people and projects during the Forum and after you return home.

About The U.S. Social Forum:
June 27 - July 1, all over Atlanta
The US Social Forum is more than a conference, more than a networking bonanza, more than a reaction to war and repression. The USSF will provide space to build relationships, learn from each other's experiences, share our analysis of the problems our communities face, and bring renewed insight and inspiration. We must declare what we want our world to look like and begin planning the path to get there. A global movement is rising. Hip Hop Sustains and BLOC Network are among hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals participating in the first-ever U.S. Social Forum. For a full schedule of events and locations, please visit the USSF website at USSF2007.org/
Another world is possible. Another U.S. is necessary.
myBLOC Launch events are sponsored by:
BLOC Network / myBLOC.net, DeBug Magazine, Youth United for Community
Action, Hip Hop Media Lab, Hip Hop Sustains, Hip Hop Congress, 4 kings Production, National Hip Hop Political Convention, Ruckus Society, Future 5000

3. Build BLOC with new Palm Cards
BLOC is a peer-driven network that is moved forward by the energy of BLOC members, BLOC Fellows and organizational allies. At the Forum we’ll be handing out thousands of our brand new palm cards that explain how to join and use the network to build our movement. If you’d like some palm cards to help build the BLOC Network in your region, e-mail info@mybloc.net.
4. What can I do on MyBLOC? New Features and Tools:
MyBLOC.net is going public! Up until now you had to have a secret password to ensure that the site reflected the BLOC community as it grew. In anticipation of the U.S. Social Forum, the password has come down and the site is officially public.
For those already on the site you know that you can:
- Create your MyBLOC Member Profile and share your vision for a another world
- Use the Circles tool to stay connected to allies and collaborators
- Coordinate and amplify your Campaigns and mobilize your supporters across the country.
- Share information about the Organizations and groups you are connected to.
Brand new features on MyBLOC include:
- An Events function to share info about actions, shows, conferences, gatherings, etc.
- A new Search function to help you find people, organizations and resources on the site.
- An enhanced Circles space that allows you send messages to all the members of your circles and get updates when documents are added.
- Ways to broadcast blogs and other information in and out of MyBLOC.
- The ability to send private messages to other BLOC members.
- A system to give general feedback on the site and to report issues if you run into glitches.
We developed these new features in response to feedback from all the current users (thank you BLOC members!) We look forward to hearing your feedback on how to make MyBLOC an even more powerful tool to support you and your vision.
